8-month-old Hyderabad Girl Dies After Bricks from Adjacent Building Fall on Her

An eight-month-old baby girl from Hyderabad succumbed to her injuries after bricks from an adjacent building fell on her amid heavy rain on Tuesday night.
According to sources, the baby girl, Jeevika, was sleeping with her parents when bricks from the third floor of a multi-storey building fell on the asbestos sheet of the house, causing her head injuries.
Jeevika is the second child of Srikanth and Jagadevi of Narayankhed, the police said.
According to Jubilee Hills Police Inspector Rajashekhar Reddy, the incident took place at around 10 pm on Tuesday.
He said bricks from the third floor of a building fell on the house with a roof made of asbestos sheet.
“A couple, along with their two children were sleeping in the house. Their 8-month-old child suffered a severe head injury. The victim was immediately shifted to a private hospital in Ameerpet, where she was declared brought dead.”
He added that the victim’s family alleged that the adjacent building’s owner had placed the bricks without any cement plastering and they had raised concerns about the issue. However, the owner of the house did not pay any attention.”
A case has been registered and the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
